The three technologies that support connectors for robot assembly

The demand for industrial robots is growing rapidly. Robotic production lines contribute to better assembly quality, production takt time, and curb wage increases, but they can also lead to assembly line issues like foreign materials, mounting misalignments, and incomplete mating.
At IRISO, we used our expertise in technology to innovate connectors especially for robot assembly to help promote connectors that work well on robotic production lines.
Our robot assembly connectors are based on three technologies that we have developed to meet our customers' various robot production line needs.

01. Floating Connectors

Floating Connectors
IRISO offers the industry's widest variety of floating connectors for suspended mating. Floating connectors absorb board misalignments and reduce the stress placed on solder joints as well as prevent solder cracks. PCBs with multiple connectors can also be aligned correctly. We offer a diverse lineup of options to meet our customers' needs.

02. Auto I-Lock structure

Auto I-Lock structure
FPC/FFC cards were previously thought to be incompatible with robotic assembly lines, but IRISO's Auto I-Lock technology for FPC/FFC connectors locks automatically when a FPC/FFC card is inserted to ensure secure mating. Robotic assembly is now an option even when using FPC/FFC cards.

03. Two-Point Contact Structure

The two-point contact structure uses redundant contacts.
Features like cleaning off floating foreign matter and scattered flux plus reliable wiping make for clean connections. Two-point contact technology improves contact reliability for higher first-pass yield rates and lower overall costs.
