Announced "18021 series" connector for automotive inverter IGBT with resonance absorption function

On April 20, 2020, IRISO (Head office: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, CEO: Ikuo Yuki) announced the release of the "18021 Series" connector for automotive inverter IGBTs that also features resonance absorption functionality.
The 18021 series connector is a bottom Mating type Socket Connectors (2.54mm pitch, Floating in Z direction) for internal connection intended for use in severe vibration environments. It reduces the soldering stress of IGBT connections used inside drive inverters, which are necessary for environmentally friendly vehicles. The connectorization significantly improves workability and reliability.
 

Major features

Feature 1: Bottom Mating method
Pin insertion from the bottom of the connector is used so that the pin insertion status can be visually confirmed.
 
Feature 2: Floating Structure and misalignment compensation
IRISO The Floating structure (Floating) type board-to-board connectors of the ( ) type are Floating in the X/Y direction and absorb misalignment between boards at Mating, facilitating the design of multiple units on the same board and contributing to improved workability. In addition, this series adopts the unique "Z-Move structure ™ (G-move)" structure to realize Floating in the Z direction. Mating This absorbs subsequent board resonance and provides high connection reliability.
 
Feature 3: Reduced load on the soldering section
In addition to the aforementioned Floating structure, retention fittings are provided at both ends of the housing to reduce the load on the soldering section caused by external forces and prevent solder cracks.
 

Product Specifications

The connector is suitable for applications such as powertrain/electric power steering including inverters, converters, battery monitoring systems (BMS), motor/robot controllers such as compressors, factory automation equipment, and smart grid equipment such as power meters.
