Announced "10127 series" connectors for Electric car powertrains

On May 29, 2020, IRISO (Head office: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, CEO: Ikuo Yuki) announced the addition of low profile profile "10127 Series" to its "10120 Series" Board to Board Connectors for internal connection, which also feature resonance absorption functions, to its lineup covering board spacings of 8mm to 30mm.
The "10127 Series" connector is Board to Board Connectors for internal connection (2.0mm pitch, Floating in Z direction) developed for drive powertrain applications required for Electric car such as EV/PHV/HV as a result of the electrification of automobiles. It employs our unique Floating structure technology "Z-Move structure ™" designed for use in severe vibration environments. The Z-axis Floating while the contacts remain fixed, making this connector highly resistant to vibration and shock.
 

Major features

Feature 1: low profile /compact size
The minimum board Mating height of 8mm has been added, which low profile than the existing 10120 series' minimum board Mating height of 11mm, contributing to the miniaturization of equipment. Our unique "Z-Move structure ™" technology allows the contact to follow the resonance in the Z direction, absorbing board resonance and providing high contact reliability. This prevents a decrease in contact reliability due to micro-sliding wear. In addition, we provide a service that performs our own vibration simulation, reflecting our past evaluation results. By cooperating with our customers from the early design stages, we can propose more effective use.
 
Feature 2: High temperature resistance
Due to the increase in heat generation caused by the engines in in-vehicle equipment and the increasing sophistication of devices, connector products are also required to have high heat resistance. Our highly heat-resistant products, realized by utilizing our materials and design technology, can be used safely even in harsh high-temperature environments.
 
Feature 3: Automation Connector
Robot assembly contributes to assembly quality, stabilization of production takt time, and reduction of labor costs, but process defects can occur such as adhesion of foreign matter, misalignment of mounting and Mating, incomplete Mating, etc. Therefore, IRISO has developed the concept of a connector suitable for robot assembly, "Automation Connector," based on the technology it has cultivated so far.
We propose products with a "Floating structure" function that absorbs misalignment of the board and a "two-point contact" function that removes foreign matter adhesion as "Automation Connector."

This connector is suitable for applications such as automotive inverters, converters, powertrain/electric power steering such as battery monitoring systems (BMS), motor/robot controllers such as compressors, factory automation equipment, and smart grid equipment such as power meters.
