On October 20, 2020, IRISO (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, CEO: Ikuo Yuki) announced the concept of its "10143 Series" Board to Board Connector that combines 16Gbps high-speed transmission with Floating structure.
This is Board to Board Connector type "hybrid" connector concept that achieves both 16Gbps high-speed transmission and a Floating structure with an unprecedented amount of Floating (±0.8mm Floating in the X and Y directions for a 0.5mm pitch). Power terminals that also function as fixing brackets are installed on both ends of the connector, realizing a smaller connector with smaller poles. It also contributes to reducing the overall size of the board.
We are currently preparing for mass production of this product, with the aim of commencing mass production in 2021.
 

Major features

Feature 1: Floating
The Floating structure Board to Board Connector Floating in the X direction and Y direction to absorb the misalignment between the boards, making it easy to adjust the alignment when connecting multiple and alleviating the stress concentrated in the soldering area. In addition, in conjunction with appropriate luring, it greatly contributes to improving Mating workability.
The 10143 series achieves Floating beyond the pitch width. Floating 0.8mm in the X and Y directions.
 
Feature 2: High Speed
The recent increase in the sophistication of equipment and the increase in the amount of information have spurred the demand for high-speed transmission of connected components. The 10143 series achieves the highest class of high-speed transmission of 16 Gbps in Floating structure Board to Board Connector history.
 
Feature 3: Power Contact
By placing power supply terminals with Floating structure at both ends of the product, it is not necessary to assign terminals for power supply, which contributes to the small polarization of the connector. This power supply terminal also serves as a fixing bracket, making it possible to reduce the size of the entire connector. As a result, it is possible to reduce the area occupied by the board of the connector.
