Environmental Sustainability Efforts in Collaboration with the Tokyu Land Corporation Group - Conclusion of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement on Environmental Conservation -

IRISO (Head office: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; President&CEO: Hitoshi Suzuki) is pleased to announce that on August 6th, it signed a "Memorandum of Understanding on a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement to Promote Environmental Activities" with Tokyu Land Corporation (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroaki Hoshino; hereinafter referred to as "Tokyu Land") and Riene Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshiyuki Nezu; hereinafter referred to as "Riene"), with the aim of increasing corporate value through the use of renewable energy (hereinafter referred to as "RE") electricity provided by the two companies, and combining the knowledge and networks of both companies to promote and disseminate information on various businesses aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.

To respond to the growing global awareness of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues, in 2021, the company has developed a roadmap for improving its ESG efforts by setting the following goals: 1.Achieving net zero CO₂ emissions (Scope 2 emissions) by 2025  2.Measuring and reducing CO₂ emissions by 20% (Scope 1-3 emissions) . At present, the company focuses on installing solar power generation systems and improving energy efficiency in its plant facilities, etc. to meet these goals.

To make such environmental efforts more effective and impactful, the company’s cooperation with Tokyu Land Corporation, and ReENE is intended to create holistic approaches, including the visualization of greenhouse gas emissions by leveraging the knowledge and networks of Tokyo Land Corporation, review progress reports made by ReENE, and the continuous improvement of its management practices to boost its overall environmental performance.

Moving forward, the company will develop practical decarbonization strategies, which involve examining the use of renewable energy across all company facilities including the Ibaraki plant and the new Akita plant expected to start operations in the 2025 fiscal year. Specifically, ReENE will make suggestions on onsite PPA (installing solar power generation facilities on-site), offsite PPA (using solar power facilities outside the site via public grids), battery storage installation, etc. helped by renewable energy power plants developed and owned by Tokyu Land Corporation.

To reach its sustainable goals in line with its environmental policy, the company will co-create sustainable values with Tokyu Land Corporation and ReENE to mitigate and adapt to climate change through reducing greenhouse gases such as CO₂ generated from production activities and promoting energy conservation.
