IRISO’s Net-Zero Target Approved by SBTi(Science Based Targets initiative)

In July 2025, IRISO Electronics Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, CEO: Hitoshi Suzuki) was approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*1, an international corporate climate action organization, for its greenhouse gas (hereafter GHG*2) emission reduction targets for the entire supply chain in line with the SBTi’s corporate net-zero standard.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international organization that takes the initiative in promoting and participating in the planning of science-based targets (SBT) for GHG reduction. It supports and certifies companies that set science-based targets in line with how much GHG emissions they need to reduce and by when.

The IRISO Electronics Group plans to promote renewable energy both in production activities and at the headquarters to meet its emission targets verified by SBTi, through renewable energy transition at all business locations*3 by the end of fiscal year 2025.

*1 The SBTi was formed in 2015 as a collaborative initiative jointly operated by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi encourages companies to set their greenhouse gas reduction targets (Science-Based Targets) in line with climate science for limiting the global average temperature increase, as well as checking and validating the science-based targets of corporates.
*2 GHG refers to a group of gases contributing to global warming and climate change. Greenhouse gases are those gaseous constituents of the atmosphere, both natural and anthropogenic, that absorb and emit radiation at specific wavelengths within the spectrum of infrared radiation emitted by the Earth's surface, atmosphere and clouds.
*3 "All business locations" include the headquarters area (including the headquarters building, second headquarters building and Kawasaki Office), Ibaraki plant, Hanamaki factory, Akita plant, Shanghai plant, Nantong plant, Vietnam plant, and Philippines plant.
