On August 8, 2025, connector manufacturer IRISO, Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, CEO: Hitoshi Suzuki), announced the "Unit-able" concept, a next-generation interface solution for powertrains that is vibration-resistant and waterproof.

As vehicle functionality has become more advanced in recent years, automakers are increasingly required to install in-vehicle devices with a variety of functions and to electronically manage and control a variety of systems, even in harsh environments. However, with conventional in-vehicle devices, frequent design changes to the interface were required even for devices with the same functionality, in order to accommodate wire harness shapes that differ from end user to end user. To address this issue, IRISO' "Unit-able" concept standardizes (shares) Socket on the device side and customizes only the interface, achieving an innovative approach that can flexibly and efficiently respond to a wide range of customer needs.

In addition, IRISO proprietary vibration-resistant connector technology, "Z-Move structure" technology, effectively absorbs the effects of vibrations caused by resonance.

Furthermore, it is waterproofed using sealing packing, and is designed to be suitable for powertrain equipment around the engine, where it is necessary to prevent rainwater, water from car washes, muddy water, etc. from entering the equipment.

Preparations for mass production of this product are underway, with the aim of commencing mass production in the second half of 2025.

Interface switching function

The interface connector is separated into Socket inside the device and the interface section, allowing for customization for each customer.
This realizes automation of High-Mix Low-Volume, not only reducing design and production man-hours but also contributing to reducing total costs.

Environmental Features

Waterproofing is possible simply by assembling (Mating) the IF. It can be used in harsh high-temperature environments such as in engine rotation in automotive equipment.

Z-Move structure

IRISO' Z-Move structure ™ technology, which is vibration-resistant, allows it to be used in harsh environments.
Floating structure absorbs misalignment of the board, reducing stress on the soldered parts and helping to reduce the risk of damage due to misalignment.

Two-point contact function

It has two contact points (two points on the same line), which improves contact reliability and supports redundant design of equipment.
