25Gbps Floating structure Board to Board Connector

At CEATEC 2020, we announced that the card is compatible with the PCIe Gen4 standard at 85Ω, making it "16Gbps compatible."
On the other hand, the characteristic impedance of this product has been tuned to the mid-range of around 92 Ω, with support for 100 Ω systems in mind. In fact, the target data rate for 100 Ω systems is in the 25 Gbps range, the same as for high-speed jumper solutions.
Due to its functionality as Board to Board Connector, it functions more as a "part" of various customer designs than FPC/FFC connections. Therefore, in order to mimic the actual specifications, we created an evaluation board with multiple pin assignments, assuming the trace length of a standard board, and conducted verification against the "CEI 28G-SR" standard, which was also referenced in the evaluation of high-speed jumper solutions. As a result, we have confirmed that it has sufficient performance to propose to customers as a 25Gbps solution.

In addition to parameter measurement, we also perform error-free test verification using the BERT module. As a result, we were able to confirm 25 Gbps compatibility in a state closer to the actual machine.

Floating structure Board to Board Connector offer customers greater freedom in mechanical and structural design, and also contribute to more efficient production processes. Furthermore, by expanding the range beyond 25Gbps, we are confident that they will contribute to the realization of 5G, the Society 5.0 era, and the CPS society.
